Conclusion

Final Opinion:
Throughout history, Native Americans have remained one of America’s most marginalized minorities. As with any minority population, the American Indian population’s challenges, struggles and progressive strides are reflected in popular culture. Hollywood and the American film industry have long represented Indians unfavorably. In much the same manner that American colonists forced Indians off their native land, filmmakers have often relegated Native American characters to roles wherein they have been typecast as minor characters displaying stereotypical, historically inaccurate behavior. That is not to say that American Indians have not been present in film. On the contrary, they existed as staple characters for a large portion of the twentieth century, especially in the popular Western genre. This marginalizing of the population has been manifested in the creation of harmful and one-dimensional stereotypes.

It is wrong to get a general idea of a certain group of people, Hollywood shows us how a social group is supposed to act, and it is not always correct, we have to say that each group of people is called these Indians, religious, or etc. you cannot try to define everyone under the same concept. It is not at all right as it is that Hollywood made believe that the Indians are ferocious and ruthless when the majority of tribes are peaceful and hard-working.

About the Book: As in reading Sherman Alexie's book, The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian shows us, not only whites have stereotypes of Indians, but they also face various stereotypes that generations of Indians have previously tagged themselves. We can see this when Arnold faces the idea of looking for a better future outside his comfort zone and the reservation.

  1. it's hard to think how Hollywood has distorted the image of indians with its sterotypes. I have to tell you that I was watching a movie in which there were a tribe of native americans and the rest of people were tough with them because they thought Indians were wild and extremely dangerous. At the end Indians had to leave that zone because they were not allow to live there and I think it was unfair
